About CommuteX
Sharing the daily commute, across India
CommuteX is a carpooling platform. It connects people who are already driving a route with people who need to travel the same way, so empty car seats become affordable, trusted rides.
Hosts cover their fuel and tolls. Passengers pay a capped share — far less than a cab or auto — with no surge pricing. And every shared seat means one less car in rush-hour traffic.
Why CommuteX exists
Indian cities are growing faster than their roads. Most cars on the morning commute carry just one person, while people on the same route squeeze into buses, pay rising cab fares or spend hours changing between autos and metros.
Carpooling fixes that — but only if people trust it. CommuteX was built around the problems commuters report on other apps: rides that vanish, payouts withheld over GPS glitches, rules that change, and matching so strict nobody is ever “on your route”. Each of those has a fix built into the product.
Who it's for
Office commuters
Daily trips to tech parks, business districts and factories — often with colleagues from the same company.
Students
Rides to college and university campuses with verified classmates, at a price that suits a student budget.
People who drive anyway
Car owners with empty seats who want to cover fuel and tolls on a trip they were making regardless.
Occasional travellers
Weekend trips between cities, airport runs and one-off journeys with someone already heading that way.
How CommuteX works
If you need a ride
1. Search your route
Enter where you start and where you're going. Rides that pass near you are matched, with the pickup distance shown.
2. Choose who you ride with
Compare the host's verification badges, ratings, reliability score, car and price before booking.
3. Book and pay
Pay securely in the app. Your seat is confirmed the moment payment succeeds.
4. Ride and confirm
Meet at the pickup, share your boarding PIN and travel together. Rate each other afterwards.
If you're driving
1. Publish your route
Add your start, destination, stops and departure time — once, or as a recurring weekday schedule.
2. Set a fair seat price
We suggest a price from the distance and cap it, so carpooling stays about sharing costs.
3. Meet your passengers
Passengers along your route book and pay in advance. Coordinate the pickup in the trip chat.
4. Get paid
Confirm boarding, end the trip, and withdraw your earnings to UPI or your bank account.
Commute every day? Hosts can publish a weekday schedule once, and passengers can book several dates with one payment.

Payments & refunds
Full details are in our payments and cancellation policies.
- Step 1
Book & pay securely
Pay by UPI, card or netbanking through a certified payment gateway (Razorpay). Your seat is confirmed only when payment succeeds — CommuteX never sees your card details or UPI PIN.
- Step 2
CommuteX holds the fare
The money waits safely with us until the trip happens. The host isn't paid yet.
- Step 3
Ride together
When you get in, share your 4-digit boarding PIN with the host. That confirms you travelled.
- Step 4
Host gets paid
24 hours after the trip ends, the fare becomes available for the host to withdraw to UPI or a bank account.
If plans change
Host cancels
You get a full automatic refund, service fee included.
You cancel
More than 6 h before departure: full refund. 1–6 h: 80% of the fare. Under 1 h: 50%. These rules are saved with your booking.
Payment fails
No seat is confirmed and nothing is charged. Seats are held for 15 minutes so you can retry.
Refunds go back to your original payment method, usually within 5–7 working days.
Safety comes first
Travelling with people you haven't met should feel safe. These protections apply to every ride.
Visit the safety centre- Every member verifies their phone number by OTP; work and college emails can be verified too.
- Only people who actually travelled together can rate each other, and ratings are revealed double-blind.
- Share a live trip link with family, and reach your emergency contact with SOS during a ride.
- Phone numbers are never shown to other members, and you can report or block anyone.
